Ideas for the Future

New concepts to grow the sport!

  • Stable Multiple Pattern Environment - a voluntary optional tier for the sport of bowling in which speed & degree of lane pattern changes is drastically reduced AND multiple patterns are used within same tournament - should ensure greater equity & genuine variety in conditions.
    • {Note:  This may require restricting equipment to balls which have lower porosity coverstocks & lower differential RGs, in addition to conditions which have significantly less volume of oil (i.e., only 25-33% in relation to what is common today OR 7-8 ml VS 25-30 ml).
  • Uniform Mark Scoring System - an alternative scoring method which should reduce equity gaps for competitions in which one group of bowlers has an edge over another (left vs right, etc.).  The system simply calculates scores for spares the same way it does for strikes (i.e., 10 + count of next 2 balls).
  • World Series of Bowling - an alternative bowling tournament which uses a wagering system that enables bowlers to bet on scores they think they can bowl (loosely based on the World Series of Poker - no limit betting format)
  • Frequent Bowler Rewards Points (a new awards structure that encourages participation and deemphasized scoring)
  • Modified Scoring System (SKINS game) - an alternative scoring scheme for bowling similar to skins game in golf
